To the folks of Tipp City and Monroe Township

Right now I am visiting the land of “blah”- dom! As most of you know, I am a Texas girl and these gray Ohio winters have a huge affect on my mood. If you love the lingering winter weather and have a strategy for the making the best of it, bully for you. If you are like me, you might need some help. Besides oversleeping and binge eating on potatoes and chocolate, you can always clean out a drawer, move your furniture or surround yourself with bright colors. Sure!

Exercise is supposed to be a mood lifter. I haven’t gotten around to trying that one yet, but Tipp Monroe Community Services has several classes this winter and spring. Jazzercise and Line dancing are tried and true great exercise opportunities but for something different why not try Belly Dancing or Zumba.

Having something to look forward to is also good therapy to banish the winter blahs. I was reading over the brochure and looking at the Creative Memories scrap booking classes. What a great way to preserve memories and photographs plus make a creative presentation. And I would love to make some new jewelry using polymer clay!

Let’s start a big countdown to spring. Make sure to mark your calendars for the Tipp Optimist Live Auction on February 26, the Community Wide Garage Sale on May 3 and the Memorial Day Decorated Bicycle Brigade on May 26. You men should sign up for Spring Softball – get your teams together and be ready to play in May. And don’t forget to look for important dates to sign your kids up for spring sports. Forgetting them could really get you into the muck and mud of winter.

So, let’s strike back against the winter doldrums! Get involved and get active. And if all else fails, Squirrel Appreciation day is January 21st. You can always celebrate something!

See you around town!

Sincerely,

Katie Sonnanstine
Program Coordinator
